Learning technology news
eLN at Learning Technologies 2012
We had a rip-roaring time at Learning Technologies 2012. The stands were bigger, there were even more people and a buzz greater even than previous years. We had a lot of interest in the eLN and particularly in our Campaign for Effective eLearning which we launched at the show. The campaign literally had the shirt from our Chair Rob's back when he presented on the campaign. It you missed it don't worry - we'll create a shortened online version of the presentation soon.
It was particularly good to see the number of stands openly touting serious games approaches, and mobile learning was BIG on everyone's agendas. The Learning Without Frontiers exhibition was a great inspiration. You want learner engaement? The Lego tent was filled with adults and children utterly aborbed by playing, building and learning. Best Learning Tech yet I'd say : )
New eLN web site
If you've been here before you may have noticed a bit of a change. We have a shiny new-look eLN web site - ta-da! A few things may not work as they should, so if you find anything that needs fixing - please let us know by emailing chair@elearningnetwork.org. We will continue working on the site over the coming weeks.
Clive Shepherd honoured with lifetime eLN membership
Clive Shepherd has been given the highest honour that the eLearning Network can award - a lifetime membership. During his four years as Chair of the eLN, Clive has worked tirelessly to refresh and reinvigorate the eLN. The shape of the eLN today owes a great deal to his commitment and vision. All Board places are unpaid and the Chair's role is a particularly demanding one. Clive gave, and continues to give generously of his time and ideas. The lifetime membership is a recognition of all that Clive has done for the eLN.

Rob Hubbard comments ‘I am honoured to have been voted in as the new Chair of the eLearning Network. Clive has worked tirelessly to further the work of the eLN and will be a tough act to follow. We wish him well in his future endeavours and look forward to his continued involvement. It’s an exciting time for elearning and, as elearning professionals, we can benefit so much from sharing experience and knowledge amongst our community. With the support of the highly dedicated eLN Board, I hope to lead our organisation to new heights in our 25th anniversary year.’
Clive Shepherd, the outgoing Chair, comments ‘My four years as chair have been highly rewarding. I have worked alongside some extremely capable people on the eLN board and I am delighted that one of those, Rob Hubbard, has been elected to move things forward in the coming year. These are exciting times for e-learning and the eLN is certainly going to be needed to support the fast-growing body of e-learning specialists and enthusiasts.’
