Innovation Software - killer apps

Simon Derry's picture

I am mapping out software used by companies and individuals to be 'innovative'. I have created some sub sets to help categorise them but I would really like some feedback on what people use and what applications are really core to their success - so called 'killer apps'. The categories I have listed are:

1. Mind Mapping tools
2. Ideas Management systems
3. Idea Generation tools
4. Decision Making & Analysis software
5. Crowdsourcing (Open Innovation platforms)
6. Concept Mapping
7. Diagramming software
8. Ideas Capture tools
9. Brainstorming (?) tools
10. Web sites for innovation

I don't need web sites for innovation or wikis or exchanging ideas as they are easily identified. Its the other 9 categories i'm interested in. Any help gratefully received and will be referenced in any publications that may result.

Thanks
Simon

some of our apps

Hi Simon,

we've been using a few apps in the project management area. In particular we use basecamp for all of our projects. In recent weeks we have come across http://www.tickspot.com/ which we have tested. It has several apps for iphone, mac and pc. It has performed really well. For Decision Making & Analysis they have proved invaluable as all the data can be reviewed in real-time, its easy for everyone to use and you can access from any web-enabled device.

Most days someone from our team will take a look at www.thefwa.com/ and also http://www.ted.com/. There are some amazing videos on TED and the fwa showcases some of the best in websites. We've been playing a science game that is currently featured. Its fantastic!

Hope this helps,
