  1. A Core-Value structure really sets the stage
Matthew – I teach business ethics at the Community College level. I recommend to you strongly a book : HARD LIKE WATER: Ethics in Business- Author: Vincent di Norcia; Published by Oxford University Press: Toronto. At the outset, di Norcia presents a small matrix of core values and maxims which he proceeds to examine through factual accounts from real-life issues, many of which have been featured in the world press. I am using the text for a course which is running in the current session. If you are interested and would like to know more, let me know what specifics might be of interest to you.

  2. Some ideas!
I suggest a first meeting with directors & senior managers to identify what they see as these core values, and how they perceive they are happening or being implemented within the company.
The next set of workshops should ask the same questions to employees with you (or members of the senior management team)acting as facilitators and also feeding in some of the responses you got from the first meeting. What you hope for is a meeting of minds between the first and subsequent meetings!

You might get general agreement… or you might not. If the latter is the case, then perhaps your management need to consider new ways of communicating (and acting) the core values they wish to see the organisation demonstrating

  3. Core Values
Following on from what has already been said, once you have identified the Core Values, you need to then make sure everyone integrates them into his/ her corporate life. Posters on the wall, memos on the boards are redundant.

Sadly, I have too much information to consolidate here, and most of it comes from the realms of NLP. If you’d like to chat on the phone some more about it, do give me a shout and we can brainstorm some more interesting solutions. 01827-373494

  4. Core Values
There is an article in Training and Development March 1998 “How to link Personal Values with Team Values” which draws on experience with a number of US companies Levi Strauss, Noordstrom AT&T. At the end of the article there is an outline of a “Values Workshop” that looks quite a good blueprint. If you cant get hold of the magazine , contact me Derek Adams
