As a practitioner I know how important it is to get the basics right. This often means aligning our strategies with the corporate goals and culture.
While I may well blog about many things learning and development, OD and train the trainer are my passions.

Practical training will save business and jobs. A couple of days ago I went for a preliminary meeting with a new client to agree the specific content and method for some staff training. The basic content had been agreed as part of a bid/ selection process, however now was the time to get away from the “specification” and understand the real job based outcomes required.

Over the past few weeks the CIPD members LinkedIn group have been involved in a poll looking at the employment 'state' of the profession, the results are not what many expected.
With over 500 people involved it is not a sample to be ignored.

Over the weekend I was asked why should a business blog? - this to me was an easy question to answer but it did spark a thought - why should corporate organisations encourage Blogging internally?
Now I am going to skip all of the competitive advantages and intellectual property arguments and come at this from the point of view that there should be internal blogs - by staff for staff.
