Over the past few weeks the CIPD members LinkedIn group have been involved in a poll looking at the employment 'state' of the profession, the results are not what many expected.

With over 500 people involved it is not a sample to be ignored.

Consider the results to be 'tainted' from the whole CIPD population as you had to be a member of LinkedIn to vote, none-the less it does show some interesting factors and trends:

  • Overall 48% employees in corporates, 36% freelance/ independent
  • Over 35yrs old and the majority of members are freelance in one capacity or another
  • Corporate employees 49% Female 26% Male
  • Freelance 29% Female 54% Male
  • 25% of members are freelance/ interim working in corporates
  • Aged over 55 - none employed in corporates !! scary!! where is the knowledge and experience?

With over 500 responders we have a significant set of data.. the question is what to do with it? What does this mean for the future of HR?

Vote in our member poll

The CMI is concerned that too few managers are taking a break this year, and won’t get the chance to recharge their batteries. What situation are you in? Are you holidaying this year?

Click here to take part in our member poll.

The CMI has a range of resources to help support managers so they can take a breather, like the delegation checklist on TrainingZone.
