Bosses can Boost Skills with new Coaching Course

default-16x9

Managers anywhere in the world can now study for a university qualification in coaching on a new distance learning course at De Montfort University.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching is one of the few university based distance learning qualifications in coaching in the UK. The Leicester based university hopes it will provide an affordable way to train managers with minimal disruption in the workplace.

The course is delivered through web-based teaching, tutor led skills, development days and self-study. It combines theoretical, applied and reflective learning with the aim of producing coaches who are able to apply a range of techniques to real-life business situations and practices.

The course will help students to identify coaching opportunities, support individuals and teams to achieve results and develop plans to fit the needs of their organisation.

Mairi Watson, programme leader, said: "In today's business environment it is becoming more important for managers to develop and improve their skills and the skills of those around them.

"Coaching is a well-respected method of personal and professional development. It raises an individual's awareness, responsibility and effectiveness to deliver significant benefits to their organisation.

"The Postgraduate Certificate has been designed to ensure students develop a critical awareness of current and emerging issues to support their ongoing career development as a coach or manager."
