Open Programmes for Individuals You are able to join a public CPD Business School programme which allows you to build credits for your qualification based on the completion of Action Learning Questions which require you to tackle real work problems in the workplace. This is not a taught programme in the traditional sense. There is no pre-defined syllabus or classroom. The content is based on the demands of your job, career and continuing professional development. You select, or with a faculty member define, the Action Learning Questions you are going to tackle. In tackling Action Learning Questions you investigate the subject area by referring to the research and writing of others (using the on-line library with immediate access to over 1,300 business and management journals). You communicate via the on-line campus with other Associates and are able to attend IMCA's regular global events to meet with other action learners. Support is provided from a Personal Facilitator and a Forum Facilitator as well as from other Associates. Associates are normally grouped into trios to support each other with their learning. Assessment is provided by the Personal Facilitator and the External Examiner based on review of the Action Learning Question responses which must demonstrate evidence of action and learning. Qualifications are provided at the following levels:
Certificate level (6-9 months - 4 Action Learning Questions) Diploma level (9-12 months - 8 Action Learning Questions) Masters level (18-24 months - 12 Action Learning Questions) At Master Level there is a facility for Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) whereby Associates are able to receive credit for up to 4 of the 12 ALQs subject to satisfactory completion of an APEL assignment where they explain how they have implemented prior learning. Prior management related professional qualifications (e.g. CIPD) will support your case for APEL.
