ISM launches annual search for excellent team leaders

default-16x9

The Institute for Supervision and Management is looking for the best examples of achievement from first line managers and team leaders in the UK to be nominated for the 2001 Lord Oxfuirds Awards for Excellence.

The annual Awards for Excellence competition is for practising first line managers or team leaders from any organisation, whether in the private, public or voluntary sector. It recognises outstanding achievement beyond the normal performance of managerial duties. A panel of judges, chaired by Lord Oxfuird himself, who is President of the ISM as well as deputy speaker of the House of Lords, will be looking for nominations for awards in the following categories:

  • best contribution by a newly appointed manager
  • best improvement in performance produced by training
  • best performance in completing a specific project ahead of and above expectations
  • best improved performance as a result of a personal development programme

Three awards will be made: the Gold Award, sponsored by City Truck Group, is for £2000. The silver award, sponsored by Swedish Match, is worth £1500, and the Bronze, sponsored by HSBC is worth £1000. Nominees can be put forward by any company or organisation and they don't have to be a member of the ISM to enter. To nominate a manager, complete an application form available from the ISM on 01543 251 346 or from the ISM website to [email protected]. Entries are due by 17th April, and the presentation will be at a dinner at the House of Lords on 5th July 2001.

The ISM area also looking for nominations from course assessors for the Keith Thurley Award, made to a student on a Certificate in Management course who submits the best project as part of his or her assessment. For more details visit the ISM website.
