  • Tension is about creating an atmosphere in which the coachee achieves optimal performance
  • Tension can be constructive or destructive depending upon the individual and the situation
  • Because of its historical links to counselling, coaching has sometimes erred on the side of avoiding tension
  • High achieving people can often operate at a higher level of tension than even the coach – so calibrate tension using their scale not yours!
