default-16x9

It’s an undisputed fact that many businesses are evolving with the digital era and they are making use of modernized tech solutions to process payments.

Most businesses have abolished the use of the traditional cash register system for the use of tablets, smartphones, Ipads, and cloud-based POS.

Although almost all your employees may understand how to use the POS but you may have some employees (probably older employees) who may not be accustomed to using the modern tech solution.

This article will cover five tips that will help you train your staffs on how to use POS.

1. Develop a training strategy

Planning is creme to the success of your POS training so ensure you create a strategy on how you will execute different sections of the training. Developing a strategy will help you and your employees understand the areas they will be trained and what will be expected of them to learn.

Important topics that need to be covered during the training include;

  • The basic: this covers how to turn the equipment on and off, how to navigate and other related steps.
  • Cost: this covers how to receive different types of payments
  • Directory: this covers how to find the different product menus
  • Various issues: this covers how to make refunds, loyalty cards, and process coupons.

2. Troubleshooting techniques

There are sometimes when the POS develop issues as a result of system malfunctioning or human errors. It is important the staffs understand how to handle such issues.

Troubleshooting could be an option if the system crashes, staff should also be taught how to void payments and lastly how the POS could be restarted when it freezes.

3. Hands-on section

Training is not adequate when the staffs listen to the trainer or read a manual. Hands on experience on how to carry out major operations using the POS system will help them get acquainted with the system. It will also boost their confidence on how to use the POS.

4. Apply Modular Training

Ensure you understand the differences between your employees and remember not all employees can get away from their duties at once.

Make the training modular by offering short and flexible training segments instead of long mundane training sessions.

5. Offer continuous education

Learning never ends so ensure you pair your staffs up with experienced colleagues so they can always have someone to meet for questions during the first few days of operating.

Also, ensure you keep monitoring the staff and give room for continuous education for additional training.

To meet up with customer expectation and ensure your business stays effective, the training tips shared above are useful to yield the positive result. In short proper training will result in continued success for your business.
