Why qualifications still matter in business

default-16x9

Qualifications are important in any subject, industry and sector of work; whether you have certain qualifications or not can affect your chances of achieving the job you apply for. Think about it this way, if you are an employer and must choose between two job candidates, one of which has a Specialist Diploma, who would you choose? Most would choose the candidate with the diploma.

Professional Academy offer internationally recognised and fully accredited qualifications in a variety of industries such as retail, hospitality and sales. We know for a fact from our own experience that qualifications still matter.

As external training providers, the range of professional bodies offering various qualifications is ever-growing; it's getting tougher and tougher to maintain a team of fully qualified members.  Here's why they matter, and why you should be putting your efforts into helping employees earn new skills while they work.

Jobs ask for qualifications

This shows that they do matter. Employers still look for them, and not just the occasional employer, more and more are asking what qualifications job candidates have attained. It’s no longer sufficient to hold a degree in a certain subject; further professional development is heavily favoured in addition to the real-world experience. While employers never want to envision their current staff elsewhere, there is a duty to provide training, so why not enrich your employees' CV acumen along the way?

Qualifications are difficult

They aren’t an easy feat, even the less demanding courses. On top of that, although qualifications like a Professional Diploma or a Specialised Diploma only take 30 hours, the higher ones like an accredited qualification from a regulated body can take up to a year, and a Master’s Degree requires a hefty 2 years! Clearly, you can't offer a Master's Degree through internal L&D practice, but working with an outside professional body or training organisation allows these qualifications to intertwine with existing training schemes.

It shows a professional hunger

Having a qualification on a CV is more than a few words; it represents a desire to better understand the industry, committing time and money into studying, and earning up-to-date qualifications to boost not only a personal career but the company they belong to. Not only do they help the individuals holding them but by facilitating the education required to earn the certificate, their success helps highlight the training programmes you help operate.

Most companies still find qualifications important

Professional academy is aware of this and they can help people take the right course, depending on what the person wants to do in the future. They can also help internal L&D teams realise the potential of those under their tutelage through professional qualifications. Choose Professional Academy to help you towards a long, prosperous career!
