Single Tasking – The Most Important Skill For 2019

default-16x9

Want to know the most important skill you will need to master in 2019?

It's got nothing to do with big data, virtual reality, AI, digital learning or any of the other "buzzword" related topics doing the rounds.

Yes, master this and you will really get ahead.

Want to know what this super power skill is?

Well, it’s single tasking.

In today’s working environment everyone seems to have multiple tasks on the go at the same time.

Nothing ever gets completed...

What you invariably find is that there’s a bunch of say 5 tasks that are 20% completed.

Or even worse, 10 tasks that are 10% complete!

So nothing gets completed!

The people who can “Single Task” will actually get the most done.

It’s a weird thing to hear but just focus on one thing at a time rather than juggling all of those balls at the same time.

Busy, busy, busy...

We have so much pressure heaped on us to be busy, busy, busy. Pressure from ourselves, from society and pressure from our line managers.

But completing one task is the equivalent of 5 tasks @ 20% complete. It’s completed quicker, you’ve made real progress and then you move onto the next.

Sure, it’s probably not practical and you’ll need to kick some projects off at once but focus on just 1 task at a time.

Completing several tasks at the same time is like Kryptonite to Superman. It's your nemesis.

I made it my mantra for 2018 to focus on single tasking. I'm glad to say that it has worked very well and I have accomplished far more at MTD this year than at any stage of it's development.

Everyone is doing it and getting nothing completed. So remember that single tasking is your super power, you’ll get ahead of the rest who are being “busy fools”
