A good read?

default-16x9

As we look to produce our programme brochure for 2010 I wonder what do learners and those seeking to book courses really prefer?

The traditional, glossy colourful hard copy booklet? Or the more technologically advanced digital media online brochure?

We currently use both! Out Nxt book media brochure looks fantastic and provides great hyperlink and printable opportunities....but I suspect (and hear comments to the effect) that clients / Training managers like the 'touch and feel' of the Branded glossy!

Is this a generation thing? With younger more IT savy clients coming to expect online marketing only? Or just a personal preferance (ala VAK / Learning styles etc)?

I recall the main use I found for the thick 'Kay's Catelogue' style learning brochures I used to receive from larger training organisations was as great doorstops!!

What are your preferences?? Experiences??

Keen to hear what the community thinks.

Regards

Lee

  1. If only it was a simple choice!

I just blogged about my preference for paper over online reading. Coming from someone who uses online social networking widely for my business this might seem like a contradiction but there are times ( and places ) where reading a book is much easier.

So for your brochure – or not – I guess there will be some people who will like it that way and others who don’t care if it is just a weblink. I know there would be a cost but could you do the weblink first and offer a hard copy only to those who "need" it that way? Just a thought.

  2. A good read
Simplicity is the name of the game – We are in era of time-management. Catch or first sight impression for a Book, Magazine or even a brochure is essential but should not be all over the place. Refine and classic touches. Simple and reachable – both mental and physical are the items that sells very well in these days and I must say, globally.

    Thanks for your good service

  3. What I prefer
I would prefer to be able to see the brochure online – and if I wish to print it off have the option.

As I travel so much with my job, books are taken everywhere with me as I seem to get through at least 2 per week.
When looking for training courses, I want the information straight away without having to wait a couple of days for the brochure to come through, and then it be sent to the Manchester office I “work” out of when I am in another city for the next 2 weeks.

Also the cost involved in printing the brochures can be high – perhaps offering an online discount for people that book online without requesting brochures could work? I would certainly welcome that !

    Thanks

    H

  4. The right read

    Thanks H,

Some great comments and you’re right to identify the need to have the infomation to hand.

Our brochure currently does exactly that…real time..and looks like a brochure rather than a pdf document.

Interesting comment about discount for online booking….watch our site to see that incorporated!!

Thanks to all others for comments. All very useful.

    Regards

    Lee
