Alternative workbased qualifications

default-16x9

I am looking for advice on alternative qualfications which are vocational and can be offered by an employer. I would like something other than NVQs. The areas I am interested in are administration and NVQs.
Any help or advice gratefully received.

    Marian.

Not sure where you are located but check out your local colleges and universities for Foundation Degrees.

Provided they have done as they are supposed to and created a brand new award (and not just re-badged an HNC/HND – I’m afraid some shoddy practice is around) then it should be heavily vocationally focused, be co-developed by employers and their associations (ensuring currency and skills gap correction), delivered locally even if validated by a university outside the local area and have substantial work-based learning opportunity.

A well constructed Fd will also have an up-front tool for supporting candidates in identifying prior and experiential learning in order to reduce time and financial commitment where appropriate.

    regards – Ian
