Creating Accredited Qualifications

default-16x9

Does anyone have any experience of creating a management training programme (specifically within manufacturing) and then having this accredited and added to the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF)?  I have the outline of a programme that I’m developing, but because it’s manufacturing, it’s not just about people management, it covers technical skills such as knowledge of Lean, 6 Sigma, Quality and so on.

Although I know what it should ‘look’ like, I was wondering if anyone else within our community perhaps had done something similar perhaps within the auto industry, aerospace etc. I don’t want to re-invent the wheel if there are companies out there that are willing to share their successes and experiences with me.

    Jane,

Generally  speaking you have to work with an approved awarding organisation to get something accredited via the QCF. I have done quite a lot of work on this for both public sector bodies and working with awarding organisations. It is possible as an employer led organisation to commission that accreditation and with the employer ownership pilot just launched by UKCES that is more scope to get employer led programmes approved and even help with funding.

What does jump out for me is the Association of Business Professionals (ABP) ( http://www.abp.org.ukwho are an awarding organisation that I have been working for recently as they are commissioning a range of management qualifications which include more technical knowledge as well, and what you want to accredit may work within their planned qualification programme. You dont stipulate which sector although I am assuming manufacturing. If so the sector skills council SEMTA might also help you. http://semta.org/
