Exercise to illustrate Kotter’s 8 Steps

default-16x9

I'm writing a series of bespoke training modules on change management, and have promised 'a lively activity to introduce/illustrate Kotter's 8 steps' (click here for an explanation). Trouble is, the exercises I already have either aren't appropriate, or will be used elsewhere in the programme, so I'm stuck! Ideally the exercise would last around 30 minutes. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,

  1. try this for a change

    Get them into small groups

Give them a handout explaining the 8 steps/put it up on a slide

Allow each group 25 minutes to…..

     …write 8 pop-haiku, one for each of Kotter’s steps

    (pop-haiku= three lines, 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables):

    Got this dumb reply.

It’s lively, they’ve probably never been asked to do this before so it is change, they’ll probably remember it for quite some time afterwards, you’ll get a copywritable product and

…..it’s probably happy-clappy-hand enough to annoy Steve Robson!;-)

  3. In response…

    Hi Russ,

I was away for a few days, but I also never got notified that you have replied, so I apologise. I like the idea, but I think I would need to tweak it a bit. I’m chewing it over now.

Thanks for rising to the challenge, when no-one else dare!

  4. Kotter

    Russ

Steve Robson is alive and well…

I know nothing of Kotter and feel unable to comment on this one…

    Ask me one on sport!
