Gamification in ICT Training

default-16x9

Hi,

As part of a blended learning approach I am trying to implement I would like to use gamification.  However, as the majority of the training is ICT related, i.e. MS Office and other bespoke tools, I am finding it hard to come up with ideas or find a company that has ideas.

For example, we are migrating from Office 2010 to Office 2013 and I would like to offer additional knowledge transfer other than the usual info sessions.

Is there anyone who already uses this method in the ICT domain or even if anyone could give me some ideas that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Caroline

  1. Bite Size

    Hi Carloine

My favourite computer training company is Bite Size http://www.bitesizeltd.com/General/computer-skills-training-in-bite-size-chunks.html Might be worth speaking to them to see what they suggest?

Russel Stannard is also worth a look. Although he specialises in language teaching his focus is on technology. http://www.teachertrainingvideos.com/

I think he is based at University of Warwick who do a lot of research in to gaming in learning and development.

    Good luck

  2. MS Ribbon Hero 2

Have you thought of using Ribbon Hero 2 from Microsoft to use to teach Office features? That's quite some gamification. And it's for free.

    http://www.ribbonhero.com/

It may not exactly teach the feature differences from Office 2010 to 2013, but it teaches all the features in a fun way.

  3. Hi Caroline,

    Hi Caroline,

I know a consultancy firm Yellow Sequoia which specializes in implementing gamification in training and education environment.

You can look them up at http://www.yellowsequoia.com. They might be able to help you out.

    Best,

    Nilofar

  4. Hi Steve,

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for the links, actually the language and technology is also of interest.  I will look into both.

    Cheers
