How to Create Buy In

default-16x9

I am writing a short session entitled *How to create "buy in" when delivering a technical training course.

The premise is that most technical people focus on the "what" and "how" rather than the "why" and therefore lose most of the audience quite early on...

I have quite a few ideas already but would welcome anyone elses thoughts...I am starting the session with the Mission Impossible theme tune...what happens next?

Thanks in anticipation

Steve

    Hi Steve,

Why not follow your opening theme tune with 5 minutes of your beloved fluffy stuff around why (ball throwing, clappy hands, p’raps even a, gasp, icebreaker.).

Then discuss how that feels with your technical staff – did they dislike, why did they dislike it, would a day all like that get buy in?

Just fell off my chair :-0

I was thinking more of why we have "Buy in" …(to create an emotional state etc)… and then some examples of great openings in TED.com…and there are many…

and then look at some of the most dreary subjects possible…

ie "Stainless Steeel Piping" and how to give that an emotional attachment…

Even algorithms can be made interesting…
