training evaluation

default-16x9

Hi i am just researching different ways trainers are evaluating their training workshops for Level 1 and Level 2 evaluation. As the most commonly used is the end of course questionniare, so apart from this what other methods are you using to evaluate your courses and how effective are they?

  1. A Couple Thoughts

We wrote up a blog entry on training evaluation levels here: http://www.getadministrate.com/blog/4-training-evaluation-levels-you-need-know/

Apart from the classic training evaluations that students fill out, we have several customers using an integration from Customer Thermometer that can send out a single question "How did you like the course?" which students can answer with a single click. Takes no time and gets really honest feedback.

    Hope that helps!

  2. Course evaluation

I use knowledge/skill checklists, an idea I picked up from a trainer called Phil McKew at House of Fraser. The idea is to list the competencies being developed on the course and ask delegates to rate themselves at the start and finish of the course on a 1-6 rating scale (1= no knowledge/skill to 6=highly competent – no development required). By comparing the pre and post totals and working out a percentage increase, this gives a feel for the knowledge/skill enhancement (albeit as determined by the learner). Some samples of the checklist in our free resources section: http://www.abctrainingsolutions.biz/evaluation_skills_free_download.html Hope that helps
