 This week I opened a Twitter account @ODInnovations.  I would be really interested in how others use their Twitter accounts not only for business but also for keeping up to date with the world of L & OD.

Also would love new followers and people to follow!

  1. Questionable value

    I blogged about this (here: http://johnrtomlinson.com/2012/06/25/no-one-listens-to-me/ ) because I’m not overly convinced of the value of Twitter in terms of communication – it can get very noisy if you follow everyone back, and if you don’t they won’t follow you (unless you’re famous).

    I’d recommend using the Lists element, it helps divide up those you follow into groups which you can then pay more attention to those who are most interesting to you.

    Hi Angela,

    A few suggestions, for what they are worth:

    Grow it organically, follow some interesting people, see who they follow and follow them, don’t be afraid to unfollow people who don’t post anything of any value to you.

    Don’t sit back and watch the stream go by, it is critical to engage if you want to have a positive experience.

    Generate conversation, find answers, post links, share thoughts, invite reflections, Twitter is an experience. The more you use it, the more enjoyable and resourceful it will become.

    One great way of using it is to participate in organised/schedules Twitter chats with like-minded professionals, check out http://lrnchat.com/ for just that.

    If you are interested you can follow me @PhilVincent – and check out the people I follow, they may be of more use to you than me 🙂

    Hi Angela

    I started using Twitter for work but after about a year realised it really isnt that useful as you are forever opening links and reading blog after blog whch is not only time consuming but in the most part, pointless.

    Now I use it for news and follow anyone who is funny!

    @lingscars is my favourite (very funny Chinses car salesperson)

    @huffingtonpost good for news

    @martinlewiss for money saving tips

    @Rt_com for a different angle on news (Russia Today)

    @keiserreport for really good Financial crisis news as is @robertpeston

    Takes a while but you will eventually find what works for you.

    Good luck

  4. Twitter

    Hi Angela

    just tried to find @ODInnovations from tweetdeck and couldn’t manage to find you. I am Joy and my twitter name is  @spectrain.

    I use twitter to learn from online L&D chats such as @lrnchat. I also use it to push out news and details of new blogs, content, courses. I also respond to those in my network who may be looking for a resource. My tweets tend to be business focused during the day and a little more sociable in the evening where there is a different crowd on a different timeline.

    Look forward to following you

  5. Thanks

     Thank you all for your insights, they are really helpful
