Hi everyone,
I am looking for a piece for video editing software (to purchase if it is not a free one!) that does more than Wondows movie maker, to develop training videos inhouse. I use Windows PC, not a Mac.
Any ideas anyone has or any experience they can share would be great - its so confusing out there in the market! I have been looking at Adobe Premier Elements but it looks like it is geared up for Home Movies so I'm not sure if it will do enugh for what we are looking for.

It’s not just about the software
Hi,
Premiere Elements is absolutely fine unless you’re aiming for absolutely top broadcast quality. It’s not just about the software though – editing is a skill in itself. You could have Adobe Premiere Pro and still churn out a load of garbage if you don’t actually understand the principles of editing.

I use Final Cut Pro (on a mac), but many of my colleagues use Windows Movie Maker. They’re both perfectly viable for what we need on TrainingZone, but it really does depend what you’re after. Avid is the industry standard for PCs (hollywood blockbuster standard), but I guess you may not need all the functionality that something like that provides?
As James says, it’s how you use the software, primarily.

Which Video editor
We use Camtasia Studio…very easy to understand apply and can create some great looking videos.
Very cost effective as well…I guess as with most things you can spend a lot of budget on products. But depends on how often and to what end you’re going to utilise them.

Camtasia
Yes, Camtasia is what we’re using and that also doubles up as a screen capture software in the same vein (but not entirely similar) as Captivate – two bangs for your buck. Camtasia’s very easy to us, very cheap and produces video in many different video formats (so that’ll help with mobile learning).
