Dealing with difficult people

default-16x9

A new resource document has been added to the successful 'Topics for Trainers' series available on the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development website.

'Dealing with Difficult People' is written by Jim Cannon, and IPD tutor and offers excellent practical advice on techniques for handling awkward people, not just in training settings, but also in other face-to-face encounters. He explores a range of different 'types' of difficult person including the interruptor, cynic, know-it-all and others.

There are now a dozen papers in the Topics series, each of which is available for download in Adobe Acrobat file format to your desktop. Other subjects to catch our eye this month include Safety in Outdoor Training, and 'Costing your Training'.

Much of the CIPD site is password protected to restrict access to Institute members. The site has recently been well redesigned to make navigation easier. You'll find the Topics for Trainers section at http://www.cipd.co.uk/pknetworks/tradev/site/pf_13.htmor from the CIPD Home Page, use the drop down menu under the Qualify, Train, Develop navigation link.

TrainingZONE's own Toolkit is another expanding libary of downloadable resource material. Later this month it will be significantly expanded with a new pay-per-view capability enabling people to publish their own resource materials online and earn money from their online sales.
