Review of the IITT On-line Trainers Course

default-16x9

Last year the Institute of Information Technology Training (IITT) launched their on-line trainers course.

The course aims are to clarify the role of on-line training within any organisation and also to enhance the skills of those involved with the delivery of on-line learning.

However, feedback received from students attending these courses, felt that it was aimed more at those who already had expertise in HTML authoring rather than at those who were experienced IT Trainers and who really wanted to learn how to apply their skills on-line.

Course Content
The course is broken down into five modules in the form of self-study tutorials, they are:

  • Online learning in context
  • Design for learning
  • Preparing content
  • Screen-craft
  • On-line learning in action

Although some technical problems were experienced, on the whole, students comments stated that the course was excellently put together with a wealth of links to additional reference sites.

A classroom version of this course is also available and takes place over five days. Here students felt that too much time was spent reading on-line material in the classroom, this would have been better approached if access was given before or after the course.

Overall, both classroom and on-line courses had considerable success with course aims and objectives being achieved by course attendees.
