Virgin Media has been named the best employer for young apprentices, it has been revealed.

The top 30 employers for young apprentices, compiled by RateMyApprenticeship.co.uk, was based on over 1,200 reviews from school leavers who undertook schemes such as apprenticeships, work experience and gap year programmes, rating their organisations on factors such as the skills they have developed, the support they have received, their salary and how valued they felt within the organisation.

“Apprentices have become a key part of our talent pool, whilst allowing us to give young people the skills they need to succeed in the work environment and it’s fantastic to hear from our apprentices what they really think."

Oliver Sidwell, co-founder of RMP Enterprise, added: "Many young people are not yet aware of the possibilities that exist for them in considering an apprenticeship or school leaver programme – and yet 99% of the apprentices we have spoken to would recommend it to a peer.

“We hope to bust myths around apprenticeships and help supply great young talent at brands including Virgin Media, Barclays, PwC, Siemens and General Electric – all of whom have apprentice retention rates of at least 85-100%."

Mayor of London Boris Johnson remarked that creating jobs and opportunities for the next generation of workers is "absolutely vital for this city’s future economic prosperity".
"We’ve already delivered more than 100,000 apprenticeships in the capital and initiatives such as RateMyApprenticeship.co.uk will only help to further champion the cause," he added.
