BBC launches self-development channel

default-16x9

This week Alert! Detective investigates the BBC's new interactive TV channel, BBC Knowledge.

"BBC Knowledge is about participation and involvement," explains Michael Bedward, the project manager for Knowledge's website. "Our programmes and websites are designed to give practical help to people wanting to get ahead in life."

So what's on? "There's a real entertaining mix," explains Michael. "Whether you're interested in languages, science, history, wildlife, culture... the list goes on. You won't be disappointed and you can take part online, or on TV."

So this is a new concept in interactive TV? "Absolutely! Taking television forward in this way means that the viewer will be able to get so much more value out of their box," Michael enthuses. "You can use the TV as a place to find out about things, it's fun too, but it's not just purely about being entertained."

If you're interested in tuning into BBC KNOWLEDGE on digital TV you'll need a digital TV decoder from your TV retailer. "They're practically giving 'em away!," claims Michael.

If you are lucky enough to have one already you can find BBC Knowledge on channel 13 of digital terrestrial TV or channel 553 of digital satellite TV.
