‘E-learning will change the way businesses develop their staff’ says Cisco Systems

default-16x9

Speaking today at the HTD 2001 conference, John Chambers, CEO of Cisco Systems, will argue that existing models of learning and training are being overthrown. "Trainers who stay within their existing models will be the losers", says Martin Sloman, author of The E-learning Revolution published today by the CIPD.

Chambers believes that e-learning will change the way in which schools, universities, businesses and workplaces support people to learn.

In his book, Sloman urges trainers to develop an understanding of e-learning as organisations themselves require training in completely new ways. He argues that learners are no longer passive recipients of learning, but are becoming interactive clients requiring differentiation in the learning products and services they receive - something which e-learning has the potential to deliver. Learners will be able to shop around with ever-greater ease choosing materials from a wide range of online sites. "The UK training industry is about to feel the winds of change".
