There are currently two versions of this utilities package available on the market and they are the Norton SystemWorks 2001 Standard and Professional edition.

Standard edition
Norton SystemWorks 2001 is a utility application that will help to keep your computer working. It gives you everything you need in one easy-to-use suite. The new One-Button Checkup makes system maintenance as easy as the click of a mouse. Norton AntiVirus 2001 is the anti-virus software section, Norton Utilities 2001 optimizes your PC's performance and may resolve some of the problems that your PC may experience with Windows. Norton CleanSweep 2001 removes unneeded programs and files. Norton Web Services - powered by ZDNet Updates - and Symantec Web Partners offer convenient online services. This version has been upgraded for use with Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows Millennium Edition users.

Professional edition
Norton SystemWorks 2001 Professional Edition is the problem-solving suite for advanced users and small businesses. The new One-Button Checkup makes system maintenance by simply clicking a mouse button. Norton AntiVirus 2001 is the virus software. Norton Utilities 2001 optimizes your PC's performance. Norton CleanSweep 2001 cleans out Internet buildup. Norton Web Services - powered by ZDNet Updates - and Symantec Web Partners offer convenient online services. Norton Ghost 2001 provides fast system upgrading and backup. And WinFax Basic Edition lets you send, receive, and manage faxes. This edition also supports Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows Millennium Edition users.

Summary
With the introduction of the One Button Checkup to this version, does combine many of this suites main features, however, problems were still encountered on testing and brought up the error message 'error writing to disk'.

A systems maintenance tool always operates best when installed right from the start and not just for when things go wrong. Cleansweep makes a note of changes made to the system configuration and logs the location of programme files. Therefore, if any changes are made here it simply is a case of reversing the original installation.

The utilities section does host a commendable collection of Norton tools that do help both the novice and expert with system maintenance, from monitoring of resources through to editing and backing up of the registry.

There are still a few amendments that need adding to this application and for existing users with previous editions, there may not be the need to upgrade, however, for those who do not use utilities, like anything, if disaster strikes and it gets you out of trouble, you then appreciate the money you have spent on such an application.
