The Learning Awards winners: Crown Agents

Lorna Matty

The Learning and Performance Institute hosts the annual Learning Awards to recognise outstanding examples of high standards, best practice, innovation and excellence in Learning and Development.


At the 2013 awards,The Live Online Facilitator of the Year Award was won by Lorna Matty. Lorna's organisation Crown Agents is an international development specialist company working with clients in more than 110 countries providing consultancy, procurement and financial services on a commercial basis. During the past 18 months, Lorna has been championing live online learning to staff and contractors and providing delivery of equality & diversity training for staff which focused on the behaviours needed to help create an environment where everyone feels they are dealt with and treated fairly.

Lorna facilitated an outstanding session which was thoroughly learner-centred and her use of visuals, interactions and voice was exemplary. All the judges remarked that her session was a role model in how excellent live online learning can be more effective than a face-to-face presentation when facilitated well.
