What tips and resources would you suggest for novices to online learning?

default-16x9

Can you suggest any useful on-line learning sites / resources for first time managers who are new to the concept of using ICT for their own professional development.

Main areas of interest are: management skills & learning to use the Internet.

Also any useful introduction to pros & cons of on-line learning

Thanks

Chris Fardon

  1. On-Line Learning
When running an on-line learning project try to involve your IT department (web team and database team) in all pre-discussions to ensure that the software will work on YOUR system. Also, to ask the supplier if you can run a pilot before deciding to go ahead – you will find issues arising because of the peculiarities of your system and will need to find solutions/work rounds. You also need to evaluate the content of the courses according to architecture, compatibility with your system, navigation, interactivity, speed of response etc. The other very important consideration is a continued marketing campaign.

  2. Online learning from Ellis Hayward
Try logging on to the new Ellis Hayward website after December 1st. We’re updating it and it will be a great source of info on online learning and all kinds of management development, with the opportunity to work through an online learning programme on the site. There will be practical examples and case studies from leading organisations. Sorry you’ll have to wait another couple of weeks – contact me in the meantime if there’s anything I might be able to help with.

  3. Web Based Training
New Horizon’s provides a Web Based Training program which will enable students to progress their IT skills. Each student has access to our learning site for 6 months and receives an on line tutor for email support. For more information please either mail me, or give me a call on 0117 9175056.
