Free resource: coaching self-assessment

James McLuckie of Eden Tree provides the community with another great free resource. Read on for more...

As workplace coaching increasingly becomes the development method of choice for many organisations, it’s important that managers are aware of the skills required to practise it successfully.

These 32 questions are designed to help managers, and all aspiring coaches, reflect upon their current skill levels in the four core coaching areas:

  • Building rapport.
  • Active listening.
  • Asking effective questions.
  • Providing constructive feedback.

The questions can be used as a stand alone reflective tool or as part of a coaching skills workshop, either as pre-work or during the session.

This exercise has been adapted from Coaching Essentials. Essentials is a new range of e-learning developed by Eden Tree, GoodPractice and Kineo, being launched in this month. For more information on Essentials, please contact Peter Casebow at [email protected].
