  1. Photo and Quantum Reading
    Hi Emer

For information on Photoreading (devised by Paul Scheele in the USA), a good place to start is his web site http://www.photoreading.com, where there is lots of information and background. A similar approach to reading is being run by Paul Hobbs in the United Kingdom as Quantum Reading – his web site is http://www.quantum-reading.com. There is also a good and inexpensive book by Paul Scheele on Photoreading – “Photoreading – The Whole Mind Reading System” are some such title – available through amazon.co.uk or through the Accelerated Learning Centre on 01267 211880 (mail order books – ask for a catalogue).

Both Pauls (Scheele and Hobbs) are in my view honest and open about their methods. While not everyone who has tried these methods finds them to their liking, I think there’s a lot to recommend them. They are certainly effective for me in getting information out of books. They don’t in my experience, replace reading for fun! 🙂

    Hope this helps,
    Best wishes

  3. Speed Reading
    Emer,

Tony Buzan’s book on Speed Reading is great – it forms the basis of our speed/range reading courses and is incorporated in some of our other courses. Although the emphasis in the book is on speed, as you would expect from Buzan, he takes a whole brain approach and naturally regards comprehension as being as important as raw speed.

How’s the Mind Mapping software going?

    Regards,

    Clive Lewis

  4. PhotoReading course distributor
A company called Lifetools based in Congleton distributes the Paul Scheele Photoreading course on tape. I also have a copy which you are welcome to peruse before you buy. It is effective!

  5. Quantum Reading / Photoreading
I brought Paul Scheele and his photoreading technique to the UK some 6 years ago but we could not come to an agreement that made it financially worth while for me. I therefore reinvented the wheel and developed Quantum Reading.
QR has been running for a number of years now and is proving very successful. It is a three-day course and we achieve reading speeds of between 20,000 and 30,000 word per minute.
Please do not confuse QR/PR with speed-reading. They are completely different.
Paul Scheele’s book is very good but in my view, it is a description of the technique and not a training aid. The tapes are also very well done but in my view, because the technique is so unusual, you really do need someone to explain it to you face to face. Please take advantage of the loan on another pages or Life Tools money back guarantee.
I would like to hear from people who have bought the tape pack and got it to work for them. For more information please visit our wed site www:quantum-reading.com or phone 01784 44 04 04

  6. Quantum Reading / Photoreading
Regarding Mark’s comments on using the techniques for reading novels etc. No! Quantum Reading is a business/study related concept that enables you to get through the material you have to read in the time available with the understanding you need to suit your purpose. Reading novels etc are for fun.

  7. SpeedReading Research
    Emir,
If it is research you are looking for, I wrote my Master’s Thesis on the topic of On-Screen Speed Reading (which includes hard-copy Speed Reading research). You can find the thesis at http://www.smartconcepts.net The Bibliography will give you some references to check out.
    Best of Luck to You,
    Pam Mullan
