Placements for People in Initial vocational Training

Does anyone know of any research or published papers on research into the placement activity for young people as part of their initial vocational training? If so please let me have details.

I am trying to complete a research projects for a MEd (Training and Development) which focuses on, you guessed it, placements in initial vocational training. I just can't believe that no one has done any sensible work in this area, but I can't find it. Loads of people say there are good
and beneficial but they have no evidence to back it up. Unless of course you know differently.......
