National Stress Awareness Day – webwatch

As today is National Stress Awareness Day, we've dug out a couple of articles available on the web worth a quick read for their thoughts on relieving the strains of the workplace.

The role of Neuro-Linguistic Programming is often cited as an important concept in understanding how we deal with and evaluate stress. The Association for Internal Change suggests a three-step approach based on Robert Dilts' model of the levels of logic.

The Health and Safety Executive have a useful online booklet which aims to answer some common questions about work-related stress.

If you can get the hang of the confusing navigation arrows and avoid the over-the-top advertising panels (enough to cause stress, you could argue!), then Mind Tools is a useful resource. It offers 'skills for high performance living' in the form of suggestions for reducing long- and short-term stress using thought awareness, rational thinking and positive thinking. It also offers some suggestions for putting together a stress action plan.

Royal & SunAlliance, who are sponsoring this year's Stress Awareness Day, have their own website devoted to the subject offering stress tips for the day.

Last but not least, the International Stress Management Association, who are responsible for organising the day, has some general advice extorting that 'life should be fun!'.
