Equal Opportunities

default-16x9

I would like suggestions or ideas of best practice regarding creating an Equal Opportunities Policy that takes into account current legislation. More specifically, I would be glad of any ideas on how best to practice equal opportunities so that it is not seen as "Just s Word Document that sits in a file/folder etc!
Many Thanks.

    Gavin,
You are absolutley right, E.O. policy needs to be very much more than just the document. It needs to live in the organisation. I’d be happy to discuss ideas with you. Please email me if you want to take this further.

In response to Gavins query about making the policy live , I have been involved with awareness training in a number of organisations and would be happy to discuss.

  4. Helpful suggestions
    Gavin,

Start with a survey of the existing staff. Who occupies what roles? Is this balanced? Is there fair pay? Does everyone receive an appraisal? Is every staff member encouraged to avail of training and development?

What about your recruitment policy? Is there a balance on the interviewing panels?

What about working committees? Is there balance in all committees appointed within the company?

There are so many areas where equal opportunities for all could become the norm, but one step at a time. You can only do so much.

E-mail me if you want to discuss further.

    Kind regards,

    Vera Mortell.
