Informal learning

Usually defined as learning that is not formal, that is, any learning that is not planned or done on purpose. In reality there is a continuum from formal learning to informal learning, and learning can include aspects of both which makes some learning difficult to categorise as formal or informal. Informal learning is far more prevalent than formal in terms of how we learn most of what we know. It happens naturally without any conscious intention to learn, and could even be considered a side effect of life. We live, and we learn.
