Learning Management System (LMS)

Software that tracks, manages and delivers elearning for employees. Levels of functionality differ a lot between brands – some (but not all) include a social and/or gamified aspect. Many commentators in the L&D industry see a limited future for the LMS as employees are offered more autonomy and ownership of their learning journey, as the BYOD trend proliferates, and as traditional business hierarchies flatten and decentralise.
