Effective and decisive leadership will mean making unpopular decisions at times, explains Sanjiv Ahuja, chairman of Orange, UK, so don’t confuse popularity with making the right choices. People will respect you for it in the end.

Sanjiv Ahuja is the founder and chairman of Augere, a new venture aiming to provide broadband access for all. He is also the founder and chairman of Eaton Telecom Infrastructure. In addition, he is the chairman of Orange UK, a position he has held since stepping down as CEO of Orange SA in April 2007. In this interview, Ahuja challenges the need of some leaders to remain popular no matter what and suggests ways to avoid making the same mistake. This video is supplied courtesy of Fifty Lessons.
