Where can I find the ‘Zin Obelisk’ or similar team development activities?

I'm trying to trace a team problem solving exercise with this name - can anybody out there point me in the right direction?

  1. Team development
The Zin Obelisk is one of 45 team development activities in the book “Team Development Manual” by Mike Woodcock published by Gower in 1979.

  2. Zin Obelisk
Roger beat me to it in answering your enquiry. I find Zin Obelisk a great group dynamics / problem solving activity and I use it regularly.
Another useful similar activity is ‘A Murder has been Committed’ which is a large group problem solving activity. My copy is not the original but there is a source reference to Lifeskills Teaching Programme no.4 by Hopson and Scally, Lifeskills Communications, 1988.

  3. A place to find the Zin Obelisk
You can find a copy in 50 Activities for Teambuilding by Mike Woodcock published by Gower

  4. I have a copy of the zin obelisk task
david if you wish to contact me on 01743 850720 or by e-mail
i will fax you all the materials needed for the excercise. The excercise is brilliant for team development in that it not only helps to improve good team relationships, but also helps to unlock hidden strenghths.
    good luck

  5. Other problem solving activities
I would suggest you try the 7 volumes of <50 Activities for Developing Management Skills> by various authors and published by Gower, ie 700 group problem solving activities. I can point you to at least another 500 published problem solving activities – the list is endless!

  6. David Meek query about Zin Obelisk

  7. Problem / Team Games
Not the Zin Obelisk, but many other games in really good resource. “Team Development Games for Trainers” by Roderick R Stuart from Gower Publishing. About £45. I’ve used it a lot this year so worth the £. Games indexed by objective, many can be done inside with minimum resources. Useful checklists for teams, observers and feedback. Our team development sessions have found these games fun, useful and good learning points.
