Blunkett calls for a ‘revolution in learning’

default-16x9

David Blunkett, Secretary of State for Education, has today called for a revolution in learning in a speech in Germany (why not in Britain I ask? - Ed.)

He outlined six key themes within the speech:

- to work with change, not against it,
- to meet demands for new types of skills,
- to educate people to the highest possible levels, and to foster lifelong learning,
- to encourage individuals to take responsibility for their own learning,
- to use ICT to break down the barriers to learning, and
- to use learning to tackle unemployment and social exclusion.

A useful restatement of the government's present priorities in this field.
