Insight: Mergers top list of L&D uncertainty

Learning that the company you work in is about to be merged or acquired is now the most reliable indicator that a universal shake-up in the L&D department is on the cards. So claims a new insights study focused on the biggest challenges facing L&D professionals in the global workplace today.

Created by Lumesse Learning in partnership with Towards Maturity, the new study asked L&D professionals to list the external business factors most likely to trigger a significant step change in global L&D strategy.

Europe’s burgeoning M&A activity took the top spot on the hotlist after increasing 55% last year and delivering deals valued at $868.9 billion across Europe. Other business challenges named most likely to trigger a major re-think in a company’s L&D strategy included: addressing inconsistencies in the company IT infrastructure, dealing with recruitment problems caused by different employment laws in disparate locations and workplace stress resulting from the  increased commercial pressures experienced by fast growth in the global marketplace.

The hotlist draws on industry insights acquired by Lumesse and Towards Maturity over the past four months for the “Building skills in geographically dispersed teams” programme. Comprising blogs, on demand webinars and downloads, the full programmes is designed to help learning leaders deliver change in a business landscape that is increasingly volatile, unpredictable, complex and ambiguous.
