Andrew Gibbons

default-16x9

Andrew Gibbons is an independent developer and consultant with a particular interest in genuinely learning-oriented approaches to helping individuals and organisations get better.

Since February 1987 he has continuously kept a learning log in which he records his everyday development. Unusually, perhaps uniquely, this now extends to nearly 1100 entries, totalling well over 630,000 words. This is one of many aspects of his own CPD efforts.

This tangible evidence of lifelong learning means he helps a lot of professional bodies with promoting and demystifying CPD. For him the best CPD schemes are those that value learning outcomes - he doesn’t like ‘points make prizes’ schemes that reward passive attendance over those that really do recognise the value of true development.

He is an active member of the Institute of Personnel and Developments’ membership upgrade panel, and is a regular contributor to this and other institutes’ branch events.

An author of many articles on and around learning, he is on a mission to make more training and development result in applied learning.

He will be pleased to hear from anyone who wants practical advice on and around CPD.
