Conventional thinking goes that, in more developed countries at least, you are formally educated from about the age of 5 to the age of 20, give or take a few years either side. In the UK this usually starts with primary school and ends with university*. While this may be true institutionally, in reality as human beings, we learn pretty soon after we're born until pretty soon before we die. Armed with this knowledge, it allows businesses to tailor their learning strategy to workers' needs and lives. Adaptibility and flexibility are the key to a successful corporate education and learning strategy.

*However, this progression is being increasingly disrupted by work placements, traineeships and apprenticeships, all part of the modern education ecosystem.
