Timing settings in Powerpoint for the Mac

I have set timing settings for a self-running screenshow on the Mac; I have a quicktime music movie on slide #1. It begins to play, but the slides never change automatically. I have set the movie to continue through all slides. If I slightly move the mouse, the slides change, but I want it to run automatically. Have checked “Use timing if present” , “show without narration.”
