UN run pilot scheme to take dot.com technology to poorer countries

default-16x9

A scheme has been announced by UN officials to develop an initiative to take web training to poorer countries before they fall further behind in technology.

This idea was based on a project by the University of Pennsylvania where three professors and 27 students were sent to the West African country of Mali to help with advice and expertise.

Reinhart Helmke who is the executive director for the UN Projects Services agency stated that the global economy cannot be sustained if some countries are not included within these technological developments.

This announcement came as world leaders met at the UN Millennium Summit in New York to discuss issues such as peace, disarmement as well as access to new technology.
